June 30th 2015 - Last date to exchange pre-2005 currency notes

June 30th 2015 is the last date to exchange pre-2005 currency notes.

The RBI had asked the public to deposit pre-2005 notes to their bank accounts or exchange them at any branch.

These notes have fewer security features and hence the decision (will help to stop fake currency notes).

Motherson Sumi - Jumps 5%+ on account of bonus issue declaration

Motherson Sumi jumped up more than 5% today in trade after the board recommended bonus shares to be issued in the ratio 1:2 (One bonus share for every two held).

Investors of this auto ancillary sector greeted the news positively.

Surana Solar - Isn't this blatant cheating?

Shares of Surana solar were up 9% or so.

Cairn merger with Vedanta

There are reports of Cairn India merging with Vedanta.
Stock of Cairn India fell by close to 4%. It was quoting at 173.

Vedanta has a debt of 75K crore (approx)
Cairn India has reserves of 56K crore (approx)

The merger gives Vedanta access to Cairn India's cash which could be used to reduce their debt and hence the crash in market price of Cairn.

Await more details for the swap ratio for the merger.
